IS DRINKING HELPING OR HURTING ME?

WHAT IS MY NEXT STEP?

I am really passionate in understanding how people relate to alcohol in every day life. A popular term these days is gray area drinking, which speaks to drinking regularly but not necessarily meeting the criteria for being an “alcoholic”. The fact is, even moderate regular drinking can interfere in subtle ways with relationships, productivity, health and our spiritual lives. I find that through rituals and routines, people develop a relationship with alcohol to an extent where it can become a companion in times of loneliness; a way to relieve boredom; a helper to enjoy movies and TV more. In short, in times when we feel trapped or stuck, alcohol can create the illusion that it’s ok. This is where alcohol can quietly get its hooks into even the most self-aware person. I’ve learned many tools and strategies to help this. Some of these strategies just might surprise you.
